Salmon River
Water Temp: 0ºF     Flow: 0 cfs

It's Monday, and I'm still recovering from our one day marathon with Joe last Saturday, which started at 5 am at ended at 7 pm; we fished the entire legal period on the Salmon River (1/2 hour before sun-up until 1/2 hour after sun-down), with just a short break for lunch. I don't know how Joe does it 12 days in a row. Despite difficult conditions (1200 cfs), Joe and Chris got us into a lot of fish - browns, steelhead, king salmon, and coho. He and Chris took appropriate care of 4 salmon/steelhead neophytes.

My one complaint about Joe is that he is really passionate about his clients catching fish. I drew a cold hand in the morning, which caused all sorts of "guide performance anxiety." Only after I started catching fish in the afternoon was he relieved enough to share his unique sense of humor, including a couple of Vivenzio dancing jigs on the bank to celebrate each new fish. Chris is a real professional, with a calm cool approach to angling. And Sinbad - that dog is focused with one serious mission in
life: to make sure he always has one stick in the water.

We'll be booking again, but I've got to make sure to catch fish early next time, and I'm going to get my own 11'6" Loomis steelhead rod so Joe can go back to fishing his "baby".
