Salmon River
Water Temp: 0ºF     Flow: 0 cfs

"I flew in to Syracuse not real sure what lay ahead. Drove up to Pulaski for nice dinner and settled in early. I was to meet my guide at a little diner for breakfast at 5:00am.

Joe is the kind of guy that makes you feel good. He found out pretty quick I had never fished for Salmon or for that matter waded much. I pulled my rubber waders out of the vehicle and he asked "what's that?" After putting a pair of his breathable waders with corkers and spikes on, he tossed me some raingear too.

For the next two days I had a ball. He learned a little about Tennessee and I learned a lot about catching King Salmon. The power of these fish just coming up the river is absolutely awesome. They're like 30 pound striper on some kind of dope. Catching salmon on traditional fly rods with 8 pound tippet was an experience I'll never forget.

As impressive as Joe's (teaching) skills were they were almost over shadowed by his compassion for the fish and their environment. He has no patience for those who are not true sportsmen. There are people that come to this beautiful spot to basically snag these great fish.

Be forewarned, if you're ever on the Salmon river snagging salmon and you see a man with a beautiful Chesapeake Bay Retriever that answers to Sinbad, you better pack it in. Thanks Joe and Sinbad, we will meet again!!!"
