|Fresh Fish Any Day Now!|
|Water Temp: 68ºF Flow: 335 cfs|
|Don't you love all the hype the Salmon cause? Reports have the fish staging in 10 feet of water at the river mouth. Will they come in today? tomorrow? How long will they be in the estuary? What's the forecast? Give us more water, that'll bring them in.
All of these predictors can only raise the hopes of the fisherman and seasonal population of Pulaski. Don't get me wrong, I want to be there as much as the next fisherman when they do run.. it's why we do it. I'm just not sold how well we can predict the next run.. though, higher water is an easier predictor and say rain.
Each of us use weather patterns, water levels, over night temperatures to gauge the next run - it might be worth it to keep a journal of these things when the fish DO run, so that we can predict better in the future.
In any event, the only way you can hope to have a good chance at catching a run, is being there often - putting in your time and walking and looking. We'll be on the river, looking for these fish and watching the skies, water, and wind trying to predict the next push of fish..
You got to love this time of year - the anticipation is awesome.
