|A Change of Pace|
|West Branch Delaware River|
|Water Temp: 41ºF Flow: 400 cfs|
|Fished the West Branch River, at the PA Game Lands over the weekend. The Game Lands are open year-round.
I wanted a change of pace from the face-paced crowded banks of the Salmon River and found just that.. a river left alone, I was the sole angler.
I was fortunate to be part of brief BWO hatch. The water was stained, but a few fish were found taking the size 24 olives. I caught some nice fish and was really happy to catch trout on Dry Flies in November. The peace and quiet of the river prepared me for another trip to the Salmon River, where peace and quiet aren't always easily found.
The Salmon continues to fish well. The steelhead are top to bottom. Advice depends on your point of view. Want to be over large numbers of fish?, you know you go up, less concentrated fish, less concentrated people, go low. Eggs, streamers, nymphs, everything is working when presented right.
No matter where you fish, enjoy and respect the river.
