A Better Flow - Steelhead Focus
Salmon River
Water Temp: 51ºF     Flow: 75 cfs

The river has come back into a better fly-fishing flow. People do fish well at higher flows, but it becomes more of a challenge with a fly rod above 1000 cfs. Center pin guys eat that high water up.

Anyway, as fresh Salmon runs wind down, the majority of Salmon are on their redds, which means STEELHEAD. The steelhead and browns will be feasting on the eggs this time of year. Fish those patterns for next weeks with determination and you'll pick up chrome. As time goes on, you can move to big flesh type flies as the salmon die off and become rotting carcasses in the river.

We excel at steelhead fishing. Their size and willingness to take a fly makes them more enjoyable on the fly rod and we have some amazing weeks ahead of us. From now, until the end of November, before the water really cools down, the steelhead fishing will be prime.

We have some good days left to book, so give us a call, (518) 527-7104. We are on the river nearly every day, so dropping an email doesn't get to us as fast. Don't forget we offer paypal for trip deposits and are offering our Military and TU discount.
