Stream Report

Colder than it Looked
Salmon River
Water Temp: 33ºF     Flow: 750 cfs

Due to cold temperatures, we fished up river focusing on the transitional water and riffles. As usual for this flow, we fished with conventional floating 7-8 wt lines.

Good success on bright patterns ie. eggs flies, glow bugs, spawn flies, estaz. The naturals & buggers didn't bring any strikes.

The water temps are still low, but we feel within a week or so those temperatures will be coming up & the steelhead will become more aggressive. Pray for moderate ambient temps for a gradual thaw and fishable water levels.

The upper fly zone is now open and reporting good catches of steelhead. Pick your water depending on flow.. you'll find the fish.
