Keep the Warming Trends Coming
Salmon River
Water Temp: 33ºF     Flow: 700 cfs

It seems each time there is a warming trend the fish go on the bite. No surprise here. Keep informed on the weather and plan your trips accordingly. Fish during the week to avoid the growing crowds.

Fish were active for most of the day, but seemed to be the most active at first light and in the mid afternoon after the cloud cover moved in. During the brightest part of the day, the fish seemed to hold in the deeper pools. These fish were still able to be caught, but smaller and more natural patterns are what were needed.

The best patterns still are pheasant tails, hares ears, stoneflies, and egg patterns. Don't forget to tie your tradtional patterns with and without some flash.

Be sure to fully revive your catch. I have seen lots of fish been released with minimal revival. Cold hands are a little price to pay for the assurance that the fish will survive to fight again.

Tight Lines,
Joe and Sinbad
