Stream Report

Crazy Spring Wild Steelhead
Salmon River
Water Temp: 36ºF     Flow: 1000 cfs

This report is for Fri. the 29th. of Mar. thru Tue. the 2nd. of Apr. From my point of view, the Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River couldn't be much better than it is right now. My clients are leaving the river very exhausted and happy. Rod pumping steelhead can do that sort of thing to you.

Sunday was a little slower with the drop in pressure, but my Mon. Apr. 1st. opener of the upper fly-stretch the Browns and Steelies were anxious to put on a show. The water went up tp 1800 cfm Mon. night many people did not fish Tues. for the few of us who did we were well rewarded. We did not land many fish in the higher flow, but any fish you can fight and get within tippet reach in that kind of flow is reward in it-self. Top flys for me were Flash- back wooly buggers, Chartreuse and red backed shrimp patterns, also pearl bodies and red backed shrimp patterns.

By the way if any-one finds a brand new simms wading staff in it's sheath in the river it belongs to me, I would appreciate getting it back. People get on some water and bring your best bud.

Tight Lines, Joe & Sinbad
