Sping Brings In Winter Wonderland
Salmon River
Water Temp: 36ºF     Flow: 1800 cfs

This report is for Thur. the 21st.-Sat. the 23rd. Well seeing is believeing. If the(High Water)was not bad enough, Mother Nature decided to spice things up a bit more. Thursday, the afternoon rains and sleet made for tough fishing conditions. Friday morning started out with sunshine, steelhead on the bite, perfect you say. By 3 P.M. it started to snow, and by Saturday morning my clients arrived to 14 inches of fresh snow. Saturday was what I think, the dampest coldest days I fished this winter. I even put on a pair of gloves, any body that knows me will tell you I never wear gloves.

By the time I left, there were another 6 inches of snow. We did manage some fish through it all, but I have to tell you, I would rather be reading this report than writing it.

A fly I feel note worthy to write about. I tied some mustad 4X 6-8 flash-back wooly buggers that the steelhead were very aggressive for. Tail Black Marabou, Body Black Green sparkle chenille med., Flash back, salt water opal, finished with no.1 black saddle hackle. Easy to tie and will be a great addition to your fly box.

Tight Lines, Joe & Sinbad
